As the self-proclaimed in-house artist at REI in Dillon, CO,  I've worked closely with various departments to design eye-catching chalk art to help customers engage with membership, key equipment for our area, and REI's core values of community and sustainability.

Here are a few of my favorite campaigns.
As we ramped up for the spring season '22, we began merchandising for campers and backpackers; we felt the need to remind folks that it's crucial to have ethical practice in the outdoors.
As an extension to the Leave No Trace campaign, we promoted bear safety devices. The idea being that bears will be especially dangerous right after emerging from hibernation.
REI plans to expand their fitness and running departments. We decided to promote the HOKA Clifton 8. Although I typically prefer to create original characters, the road runner was fun to draw and I was able to focus my effort in drawing the shoe as accurately as possible, and include the familiar scenery of Summit county that includes Buffalo mountain and Red peak.
What began as a doodle at the West Hartford store, became the subject for a colored marker test at the Dillon store. Needless to say, I was very satisfied with the markers, and I also managed to promote the membership with an original jingle.
Lastly, my favorite project: It can get terribly cold in Summit county. With the volume of skiers, mountaineers, and backcountry customers, we needed a sign and a designated spot to direct them to. This sign was my favorite because of the marks that I used to create the hot/cold effect. (I was also vey proud of this jingle.)
