I bought a Dope Snow jacket that I saw on Instagram for skiing. The jacket is great, but everyone else on the mountain owns one as well. In order to set myself apart from the riffraff, I customized it.
The design is inspired from parts of my cultural heritage, Ukiyo-e and Japanese mythology. However, the three eye sockets are of my own invention.
From the sketch, I projected the skull design onto the back of the hoodie, and I traced the design with permanent marker. It was then painted over with Tulip fabric paint and outlined with Sharpie oil markers.
While the back piece is the main content, I felt compelled to unify the art on the jacket; one eyeball is in the mouth, the other two are located on the sleeve and front.
Lastly, here is myself in the finished form!
